Sabrina Ionescu And Steph Curry Put On One Hell Of A Show That Absolutely Lived Up To The Hype
In addition to the normal 3PT Contest, this year brought us a new challenge in Steph vs Sabrina. Easily two of the best shooters to walk this earth, their head to head battle was something new the NBA decided to try this year and boy did it deliver. You never really know how these new ideas are going to hit, but when you put to absolute buckets on the floor and tell them to knock down jumpers, there's a strong chance they're going to do just that
26 points from the NBA line is no fucking joke, but like I said, Sabrina Ionescu is one of the greatest shooters on earth. Considering we just saw Dame win the actual 3PT contest with a score of 26, I'd say that performance more than validated this whole idea. Not only was that a legit as hell score, it was going to force Steph to have to come through with a great showing of his own
This fucking guy. What can't Steph do? Ho hum, oh your 26 points is cool? Here's a casual 29 because I'm Steph Curry and making 3s is literally what I was put on this planet to do. While I don't think the final result shocks anyone, that doesn't mean the event and idea itself wasn't awesome.
In fact, I'd love to see the league take this one step further. I can get behind a Royal Rumble of sorts where everyone just tries to take their swings against Steph. Man, woman, adult, child, whoever. Enter the arena and take your shot. Maybe for every win Steph has, he donates more to charity or something. I dunno I'm spitballing.
I also love the idea that I think came from Reggie Miller where he said next year it's time to do this again with Caitlin Clark involved and I'm in on that too. She's electric as hell and most definitely has Steph Curry range. We all saw her record breaking three right?
As I said in the 3PT blog, this is the one competition that always delivers. It doesn't matter if you go the traditional contest route or a fun new idea like this battle was. You get the best shooters on the planet on the court together, fun things will happen and this pretty much proves it.
